B1 holders can participate in various commercial projects or events. This would include meetings and attending conferences.
However, you must be very, very careful that you are not going to be engaging in local productive employment. And this is when you are on U.S. soil doing some activity that derives income, some compensation in the immediate, or, and I emphasize, deferred B1 holders may stay in the United States for up to six months.
They can extend their status so long as they have a compelling reason that they need to continue to stay in the United States for a visitor purpose.
